Specialty coffee shops in Ciutat Vella, Barcelona
Ciutat Vella is where it all started in Barcelona. El Born and the Gothic Quarter have been home since 2012 to the cafes that defined Barcelona's specialty scene. Cafés El Magnífico, in El Born, is the city's historic roaster (three generations, since 1919); Satan's Coffee Corner, on a discreet alley in the old Call, was Barcelona's first third-wave filter coffee shop.
Ciutat Vella includes the Gothic Quarter, El Born, El Raval and Barceloneta. Each area has its own character:
- El Born: historic roasters, shopping streets, mix of tourists and locals.
- El Gòtic: medieval alleys, dense atmosphere, intimate cafes.
- El Raval: multicultural, artistic, with a few interesting surprises.
